Opt in Email Campaign: Lessons Learned

By Asem Eltaher

No one can deny that email marketing is one of the most robust marketing strategies that can bring your online business to the next level in the hope that it is properly used. On the other hand, the miss use of this strategy can destroy your name and eliminate it from the online marketing field. Here are my lessons learned for you.

Following these points would sky rocket your opt-in email campaign:

1. A common mistake among the beginners in online business is to miss design their sign up form on their home page. It should be in a visible place and have a comfortable style in the sense of the text and colors. Never annoy your visitors with pop up messages asking them quite often to subscribe as this would destroy your credibility.

2. Inform people that they can subscribe to your mailing list on the signature of your normal work emails. This will enable it to link straight through the form on your website.

3. Ask your affiliate website visitor in a very clear manner if they would like to be subscribed in your mailing list and take their permission first of all. This way leads to a 100% legal opt in email campaign with no worry at all that you would be one day accused of spamming people.

4. Normally, people surfing the internet do nothing for nothing. They should be some how encouraged and motivated to join your mailing list. So, clarify briefly what they would win if they became your subscribers. Tell them gently that they would hear from you again.

5. Welcoming your new subscriber in your email marketing list with a welcome message and the program you prepared for him is a wise idea. This would make you like a professional who cares about his new comers and have a well planned program for them.

Please do not do this to succeed in your Opt-in Email Campaign:

1. In case that somebody wrote you an email asking about something, never add his email address automatically to your mailing list. This would be understood as miss use of the data unless you ask for his/her permission first to guarantee legal web marketing.

2. It may happen that some companies offer you a list that is not opt-in. This simply means they provided their contact details for something else rather than being further contacted. So, before you mail them, check first that they are ready for that.

3. Never miss use the trust of your list of contacts. Never spam them or overloading them with non-sense emails that always tries to sell something with no real information or service. Otherwise, your email campaign will fail. - 16655
