Articles & Affiliates: Boost Your Commissions by Publishing Articles

By James T Maxwell

Do you know that writing articles is a fantastic way to be making money? I'm not referring to you writing them and selling them for a profit. Right this minute you are probably wondering how this could possibly be, if you aren't selling them, or charging for access.

There's a simple answer to that question: affiliates.

When you are writing articles, they can be used to teach readers about whatever subject you've decided to write about. That is true. However, you can also take advantage of your articles to do some promotion for your own or your affiliates' products. And nobody said they had to read like drawn out and boring sales letters.

The warm-up

Do you want your prospects to get used to the idea of buying products? Maybe you could try writing some articles corresponding to the use of the product, or perhaps the industry. An example could be, if you're selling vacuums, to write articles relating to the benefits of cleanliness. Or perhaps the hazards of dust in regards to your health, or other general cleaning articles. Any topics related to the product you're promoting are likely to go over well with any prospects interested in product-based information.

The placement

In addition to teaching readers about a topic, you can also insert links to relevant products in the articles. The trick is to write your article so that the links don't look so obvious. Who wants to read an article that sounds like the author is just desperately trying to sell you something? Nobody does. That's why you should place your link in strategic places. Slide your product links only where they would go well. And don't overdo it. Prospects can always tell when you're just putting in affiliate product links because you want a higher commission. Be mindful of where and when you place your links. Reread your article to make sure that you're placing them in the right areas.

You simply can't go wrong with using a single link at the bottom of your article. This is less intrusive of the linking options, which can greatly appeal to your audience. Use your article to build interest in a particular product, and then have your readers visit a product website for information or examples to show them what you mean. Using this method is likely to go over best with prospects.

PLR articles

If you like the idea of using articles for promoting affiliates' products, but don't like the idea of writing them from scratch, know you aren't alone. In fact, not too many business owners have the time or the desire to write articles. It's just the way it is.

The answer is to invest in PLR articles. When you buy PLR articles, you get articles that are already written. The only thing you'll have to do is make modifications to the content. And what are those modifications? Well, you can reword some lines and add others...but you can also add links! That's right, with PLR articles you basically buy content that's ready-made and waiting to have links placed in them. It's win-win, right?
